Tehlea Jane McAlister and Hafiez Ayad plead not guilty to drug supply
Two proud new parents have denied they were dial-a-dealers who sold cocaine to eager partygoers at a Sydney RSL club while they were expecting their first baby together.
Two proud new parents accused of dealing coke at Cronulla RSL have denied they were dial-a-dealers who supplied drugs on demand.
Tehlea Jane McAlister and her partner Hafiez Ayad, both 25, have pleaded not guilty to prohibited drug supply at Sutherland Local Court after seeking representation from Legal Aid.
Police allege McAlister, who was heavily pregnant at the time, and Ayad had more than 13 grams of cocaine hidden in a Red Bull can, $2970 in cash and four mobile phones when their car was stopped at Elouera Rd, Cronulla on November 30.
“Police have a strong prosecution case consisting of police statements, electronic evidence from seized mobile phones and possible CCTV from the RSL,” police bail documents state.
“There is a good chance of a custodial sentence being handed down (to Ayad).”
The pair will next face court on March 12.
When they left court after their first appearance, after complaining to police about media attention, McAlister shouted “suck a d---, motherf-------” at The Daily Telegraph’s reporter and photographer.
McAlister and Ayad were both charged with two counts of prohibited drug supply and one count of possessing property proceeds of crime.
Ayad, who works as a shopfitter, was also charged with a further count of prohibited drug supply pertaining to an additional alleged deal on the same day.
“Ayad has a criminal history of traffic offences and taking a conveyance without the consent of the owner,” police bail documents stated.
McAlister does not have a criminal history.
The couple lives in Kensington and have been required to observe a curfew as part of their bail conditions.
