Police allege two proud new parents were dealing cocaine secreted inside a Red Bull can just weeks before the birth of their child.
Tehlea Jane McAlister and her partner Hafiez Ayad, both 25, faced Sutherland Local Court charged with prohibited drug supply after they were allegedly caught dealing cocaine on November 30.
Police allege McAlister, who was heavily pregnant at the time, and Ayad, had more than 13g of cocaine hidden in a Red Bull can, $2970 cash and four mobile phones when their car was stopped on Elouera Rd, Cronulla.
“Police have a strong prosecution case consisting of police statements, electronic evidence from seized mobile phones and possible CCTV from the RSL,” police bail documents stated.
“There is a good chance of a custodial sentence being handed down (to Ayad).”
The pair did not enter a plea and were granted an adjournment for legal advice to January 30.
When they left court after complaining to police about media attention McAlister shouted “suck a d***, motherf*****” at The Daily Telegraph’s reporter and photographer.
McAlister and Ayad were both charged with two counts of prohibited drug supply and one count of possessing property proceeds of crime.
Ayad, who works as a shopfitter, was also charged with a further count of prohibited drug supply pertaining to an additional alleged deal on the same day.
“Ayad has a criminal history of traffic offences and taking a conveyance without the consent of the owner,” police bail documents stated.
McAlister does not have a criminal history.
The couple, who reside in Kensington, are prevented from travelling to the Sutherland Shire or to any international points of departure as part of their bail conditions.
They are also required to observe a curfew between 8pm and 4am and report to Mascot police every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
