Sky is the limit for this show
Large scale jet aircraft models, some flying at 400km/hr, will take to the skies in Quakers Hill this weekend.
A GROUP of passionate model plane enthusiasts will come together for a morning of impressive displays and demonstrations.
The Fast Jets and Amazing Pilots day in Quakers Hill on Sunday will showcase a range of replica jet aircraft models, some flying at up to 400km/h.
There will be more than 20 replica models, including F18 Classic Hornets and MIG29 jet fighters.
One of Australia’s top aerobatic pilots Paul Bennett will join in, flying a replica of the aircraft he performs in.
Fans of large-scale model aircraft can enjoy all the action from 10am-1pm at The Fast Jets Airfield, within the grounds of Nirimba TAFE in Quakers Hill.
Hosted by SkyAces RC for the second year in a row, the day will raise money for NSW Kids In Need, which supports six charities; Bear Cottage, the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Central Coast Kids in Need, Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Muscular Dystrophy NSW and Shine for Kids.
Organiser Levi Wagner, of SkyAces RC, started flying model aircraft at 14 and has seen the models evolve from “what is now a basic aircraft to large, realistic and advance fast jets”.
“Having wanted to be a fighter pilot my whole life, this is the next best thing for me,” he said.
“Our models are so big and heavy they need to be flown at active, full-sized airports — we have three airports available to us now.
“It’s a true replication — people can’t believe such a thing exists.”
Tickets to the event cost $15 each.
