A GRAND Box Hill Town Centre will be a part of the multimillion-dollar mixed- used development on Mason and Terry roads when it opens in 2019.

It will join The Gables and Hills of Carmel as huge housing developments in the area, along with the proposed multistorey apartment on Alan St.

Other big housing development applications are in the pipeline as developers move in on large tracts of land in this semi-rural area. However, The Hills Shire Council is against one multistorey development at Alan St, Box Hill, saying it could create ghetto-like conditions.

Developer Toplace, which is developing high rise apartments in Castle Hill, said the town centre would include 40ha of open space and a 4ha artificial lake as the centrepiece.

Toplace is behind the 378-apartment building going up in Old Northern Rd, Castle Hill. Its website details plans for apartments complexes in Kellyville and Schofields.

The town centre will contain 700 apartments and 35 retailers, including two supermarkets, a fresh food market, pharmacy and dine-in and takeaway food outlets.

Toplace director Jean Nassif said the project would provide many community benefits.

“We are extremely positive about this project and hope to leave a positive physical, financial and social legacy for the local community with job opportunities and housing options in the beautiful suburb of Box Hill,” Mr Nassif said.

“Our developments have a strong focus on environmental sustainability, as well as being rich in style and high in quality.”

Toplace has appointed Colliers International as its retail leasing agency.

“The town centre and associated retailers will offer customers a convenient, easy-to-access amenity-based shop,” Colliers International’s project leasing director George Wragge said.

“The retail interest from retail operators in the northwest over the past three to five years has been unprecedented for a metro market of Sydney.”

Work is due to start early next year.
