Guildford 18-year-old Haowei Ma, charged as part of an investigation into the supply of replica firearms, parts and gel blasters, has appeared at Parramatta Local Court.
In November, cop swooped on his Station St apartment and allegedly discovered 53 gel blasters, replica firearm parts and electronic devices during a morning search.
Police alleged in documents tendered to court that the gel blasters were “substantially duplicate in appearance to a military-style firearm, not being authorised to do so by a licence or permit”.
Mr Ma allegedly possessed 19 illegal air guns including 16 pistols and three bolt action rifles.
He was arrested at the home and taken to Granville police station where he was charged with two counts of possessing an unauthorised firearm and possessing more than three unregistered firearms including pistol or prohibited firearms.
He was granted bail in November on the conditions that he surrender his Chinese passport, report daily to Merrylands police station, not use YouTube and not access any website containing information about firearms.
The youth did not enter a plea when his matter was mentioned in court on Thursday.
Bail was continued and the matter was adjourned to February 10.
Speaking outside of court, Firearms Registry commander Superintendent Cameron Lindsay said it was an offence to buy a gel blaster from a wholesaler, retailer or individual seller from another state and have it sent into NSW.
