Sydney newsagency sells two winning tickets to punters

THEY say things happens in three — well, it might be worth taking a punt on this Sydney newsagency after it sold two winning tickets to punters in a matter of weeks.

A $5 scratch card paid out $100,000 for one lucky punter.

ONE lucky punter bought a $5 scratch card with some spare change — and won $100,000.

The Sydney winner said he thought there was something wrong with the ticket when he saw so many zeros.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said the northern beaches man, who did not want to be named. “I thought I had the zeros wrong.

“I told the owner there was something wrong with the ticket.

“He put it in the machine and said, ‘wow — I can’t pay out that. That prize is too big’.”

The man, who bought the Scratch-Its ticket from Allambie Heights Newsagency, last weekend, said the most he had ever won before was $100.

He said he planned to give some of it to his children and perhaps go on a cruise himself.

Allambie Heights Newsagency owner Chang Xu said he was elated to have sold a top prize winning scratchie as it continued his outlet’s winning streak.

He recently sold a division one winning 10-share store syndicate in July’s Saturday Lotto $20 Million Superdraw.

“That’s two big ones in three weeks,” he said.

“The customer was so happy when he scratched $100,000 and I was really pleased for him. Hopefully there’s more wins in store for our customers.”
