Scammers secretly record sex video then demand cash from teen

A TEENAGER was blackmailed out of hundreds of dollars after performing a sex act on Skype with a stranger overseas that was recorded without his knowledge.

A TEENAGER was blackmailed into sending hundreds of dollars overseas after he was unknowingly filmed performing a sex act during a Skype conversation with a stranger.

Police said the 18-year-old was at home on his computer last Wednesday when he received a friend request on Skype from what seemed to be a woman from the Philippines.

The young man accepted the request and began messaging the woman, who started sending erotic images.

He then started communicating via video.

The woman was allegedly naked and performing a sexual act to which the victim responded.

The young man then saw a video of himself doing the act.

An unknown male, who is alleged to have been working with the female, ordered the victim to pay him $3000 to have the video deleted.

The young man allegedly sent the blackmailer only $300 via a Western Union money transfer.

The blackmailer then requested more money at which point the incident was reported to police.

Northern Beaches crime prevention officer Senior Constable Rochelle Bird said the incident is a reminder that scammers can remotely turn on your camera and to cover over your video at all times.
