Australia’s Top 100 restaurants have been named.And there are a few surprises. Four of the top 10 are from Sydney.
What are the country’s top 100 restaurants? The Australian public has voted and the winners aren’t the most swanky, super expensive places in town.
Online restaurant booking service Dimmi has released its People’s Choice Awards for 2016 and the results might raise a few eyebrows.
Dimmi crunched the numbers from more than 700,000 reviews and ratings carried out in restaurants across the nation over the past 12 months.
Sydney claims four of Top 10 spots, including the coveted top spot for contemporary Surry Hills fine-diner nel. restaurant.
With Brit chef Nelly Robinson at the helm, the Dimmi website congratulates the restaurant for iits seasonal produce, robust flaours and for “breathing new life into Sydney’s progressive `fine dining’ scene.”
Top 10 restaurant Hugos Manly is another that’s feeling the public’s love.
The waterfront pizzeria cum modern Australian restaurant has taken out seventh spot in Dimmi People’s Choice Awards for 2016.
Consumer support is the best publicity, restaurateur Dave Evans said.
“These awards are consumer driven, it really is more than 700,000 people having a voice,” he said.
“The Dimmi awards might not be the choice of reviewers, but the best press is word of mouth.”
Hugos also scored well in several NSW Top 20 Best For categories.
“We came in the Top 20 for best views, fine dining, service and parties and groups,” Mr Evans said.
Brisbane French restaurant, Lutece Bistro & Wine Bar and vegan Fitzroy restaurant, Smith & Daughters took out second and third places.
