IT’S the sight that no driver wants to find — four flat tyres.
Residents on Rosebery and Awaba streets in Mosman were furious to find several cars had been targeted in a spree of deflation last week.
All four tyres were flattened on some cars, while others escaped with just one tyre damaged.
Police were called to the scene on Wednesday and believe it was a joke, possibly linked to the last day of high school for year 12 students.
“It happens now and again but it is not a common thing,” said Chief Inspector Craig Thorp.
“I reckon it’s someone doing it as a prank.”
Police could not confirm if the tyres were slashed or if the air was simply let out by unscrewing the valve caps.
Officers canvassed the area and looked for CCTV but none was found.
The seven cars were damaged sometime overnight between 9.45pm on September 27 to 6am the next day.
He explained it is difficult to take DNA samples from the outside of vehicles.
“No one saw or heard anything suspicious,” Insp Thorp said.
A resident whose boat trailer was targeted believes knives were used to slash both tyres.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said.
“They did cars on both sides of the road.
“It’s something you don’t expect.”
