A pair of women charged in relation to the shooting murder of a man at Kendall last year have appeared together in court, triggering a warning from a Port Macquarie magistrate.
Julia Ann Jeffrey and co-accused Ashlee Louise Shields were seated next to each other in the back row of Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday when their cases came before Magistrate Georgina Darcy.
Ms Darcy told the court the women should not be sitting together given bail conditions stipulating they should have no contact with each other as the case progresses.
Jeffrey, 53, from Kendall has been charged with hindering an investigation into a serious indictable offence and concealing a serious indictable offence. She is yet to enter pleas.
Shields, 27, from North Haven, has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence. She has not yet entered a plea.
The alleged murder victim is named in court documents as Paul Davy.
After the warning, Jeffrey moved to another row of seating in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, a police prosecutor argued for more time to get documents together, indicating the case was complex.
“What does that actually mean – what does it get you?” Ms Darcy asked.
“I’m not marking it (the case) as complex”.
While Jeffrey and Shields are on bail in relation to the alleged murder, two men remain in custody on remand.
Michael Nicholas Hatzigeorgiou from Coolongolook was the first to be arrested after a vehicle stop on the Pacific Highway at Nabiac about 4.10pm on the Saturday.
The 39-year-old was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, concealing a serious indictable offence and disqualified driving. He has not entered pleas.
The next day, detectives arrested 37-year-old Luke Willcockson, along with Shields, at a home in North Haven about 1.30pm.
Willcockson has been charged with murder.
Jeffrey was arrested on Murray St, Port Macquarie about 9.35am on Monday.
Emergency services were called to Batar Creek Rd at Kendall about 6.40pm on Wednesday, November 22.
They found Mr Davy, 43, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He died before he could be taken to hospital, despite the efforts of paramedics and members of the public, who started CPR before authorities arrived.
A group of men were seen to drive off after the shooting, according to police.
Ms Darcy adjourned all of the four co-accused’s cases to April 4.
