A Mid-North Coast pub manager has narrowly escaped jail time after unleashing a terrifying barrage of threats and pushing in a screen door over a bottle of Coca Cola.

George Patsan, event manager at the Harrington Hotel, faced Taree Local Court on Tuesday when he appeared for sentencing.

Patsan had pleaded guilty to stalking and intimidation in relation to a frightening incident at Harrington on January 3.

According to police facts tendered to court, the 30-year-old called a friend and told him he was drunk and asked him to bring over Coca Cola to mix drinks with.

The male friend refused saying he was relaxing at home with another woman, also known to Patsan and a staffer at the hotel.

Not to be deterred, Patsan continued to text and demand he bring over the mixer to which the man eventually replied: f**k off.

Patsan then drove over to the house where the couple were and demanded an apology - telling the man to come out and he would slaughter him, according to police documents tendered to court.

He continued the threats, saying he would run the couple over and then pushed in a front screen door.

The couple called triple 000. When Patsan heard this, he called the pair dogs and said “see you on the streets” according to court documents.

Police arrived and later found Patsan at the gaming room of the Harrington Hotel and arrested him.

During sentencing Magistrate Allison Hawkins said Patsan’s record did him no favours even though there had been a “bit of a gap” in his offending but said the alcohol-fuelled incident with the couple being intimidated in their own home was extremely serious - “getting close to jail”.

He was convicted and given an 18-month community corrections order which included a direction to abstain from alcohol for the next six months.

“You need a break from alcohol,” Ms Hawkins said.

Patsan has been ordered to stay away from the two victims, but with the woman also working at the hotel his lawyer presented a letter from the manager saying rosters would be organised to account for this.

“I’m not going to keep you away from the hotel but if you are both there you will be the one who has to leave,” Ms Hawkins said.
