TWO northern beaches singletons will marry strangers on TV in an effort to find lasting love.
Mark Ellam and Bella Frizza both tie the knot on the third series of “social experiment” Married at First Sight.
Mark, a 30-year-old fireman from Dee Why, and Bella, who is from Avalon but now lives on the Gold Coast, were both frustrated at trying to find partners, so handed the task over to experts on the TV show.
And, while they wouldn’t reveal what happened after walking down the aisle, both admitted they thought their new partners were “hot” as soon as they saw them.
Ms Frizza, 31, who works for radio station Sea FM, and has been single for five years, said: “It was a whirlwind.
“I saw him and he just smiled and I was like ‘oh my god ... he’s so hot’.
“I was sick of getting my heart broken by idiots.”
“Guys just don’t want to commit.”
Ms Frizza, who went to Brigidine College and Northern Beaches Christian School revealed while dad Robert, who lives at Whale Beach, attended the wedding, her mum, Julianna, who lives in WA, did not.
“It was a pretty far fetched concept for my mum,” she said. “I think she was in shock. My dad was the same at the start but then he turned a corner.”
Ms Frizza also revealed she had a nose job last year.
Meanwhile, Mark said despite wearing a uniform many consider sexy, he had trouble finding love.
The comic book and surfing fan said he had been single for two years.
He works at Blacktown Fire Station, and said his crew mates weren’t surprised he went on the show.
“I’m a spontaneous guy,” he said.
“I’ve done everything from picking up girls in night clubs, internet dating, meeting through friends of friends, I’m kind of open to most ideas.”
The show
The facts: The show’s weddings are not legally binding – unlike in some countries.
Last season, northern beaches local Simone Lee-Brennan, from Collaroy, took part but she split with match Xander.
Only one couple from that series, Erin and Bryce, are still together.
The first series also has one couple remaining, Zoe and Alex, who are expecting a baby.
