A JOBS bonanza is under way at a revamped peninsula department store.

Myer is now recruiting for staff at its Warringah Mall shop, which has been stripped back to a shell.

When it opens it’ll be the first store in Australia to have a new look and feel – as well as new brands.

Big names Apple and Topshop will be moving in, while as reported in the Manly Daily, British department store John Lewis is opening a homewares shop inside as part of a new deal with the company.

There are 150 jobs on offer across around 20 different roles at the store, as well as around 65 positions at in-store brands.

So far around 500 applications have been handed in, manager Alexis Pead said.

Some interviews have started, but many are still open to applications.

She said they’re keen to get locals on board.

“The majority are local and a great mix of people that have worked in retail before and people that love retail,” she said.

“The characteristics that make people stand out will be those with a love of fashion and a passion and enthusiasm for the brand.”

Ms Pead said people who worked at the store previously but were made redundant when it closed for the revamp are welcome to apply.

She said the emphasis will be on service. Myer has been criticised in the past for a lack of sales assistants on the floor. New roles including change room assistants are on offer, and staff at a “digital hub” will handle online orders.
