Investigators raided a home in southwest Sydney after a tip-off and found a weapon hidden under a mattress.
Camden police searched a home at Plane Tree Drive, Narellan Vale, about 10.30am on Thursday after a tip-off.
Police allegedly found an unauthorised pistol under a mattress, which was seized for forensic examination.
Officers then arrested a 48-year-old man who was taken to Camden police where he was charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol.
He appeared before Picton Local Court on Thursday where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on December 14.
