Fourteen businesses across the Macarthur region have been named and shamed by the NSW Food Authority for breaches in the past 12 months.

The state’s food safety regulator recorded 24 penalty notices to a number of restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and even a day care centre, with fines totalling $18,260.

Most of the notices related to hygiene practices.

Businesses in the Campbelltown area recorded the highest number of breaches with 12 penalty notices shared across seven businesses in the past 12 months.

Bakers Choice Macquarie Fields was fined a whopping $3330 for three offences in August last year.

According to the NS Food Authority the bakery had failed to maintain equipment to the required standard of cleanliness, didn’t maintain a single-use hand towel near hand wash sinks and neglected a prohibition order.

Mt Annan’s Noodle Paradise was the Camden area’s worst performer, whacked with two infringements totalling $1760 for hygiene-related breaches last July.

Tahmoor Foodworks received three penalty notices on two occasions in the past 12 months, totalling $2640, all for allegedly failing to maintain a clean store.

The Macarthur region fared favourably compared to Penrith and Liverpool, with local businesses fined a total of $32,000 and $19,580 respectively.

  • The Cake Merchant, Campbelltown - failure to maintain cleanliness
  • Theo’s Pizza, Ruse - failure to store food to prevent contamination & maintain cleanliness
  • The Oak’s Garden Chinese Restaurant, The Oaks - failure to ensure food handlers don’t spit, smoke or use tobacco near food
  • Foodworks Tahmoor, Tahmoor - failure to maintain cleanliness
  • 3 Steps Early Learning, Currans Hill - failure to eradicate pests
  • Camden Fruit Barn, Elderslie - failure to maintain cleanliness
  • Noodle Paradise, Mt Annan - unclean surfaces & failure to store food under temperature control
  • Royal Thailicious, Mt Annan - failure to maintain cleanliness
