A Wollongong couple say they have had a “fairy tale” beginning to their retirement, winning almost one million dollars in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The pair held one of the four division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto, with each entry winning a division one prize of $979,483.89.
The Illawarra couple, who confirmed their win this morning, buy a lottery ticket every Saturday, before checking their luck on Sunday mornings.
“We buy a Saturday Lotto ticket every week and on Sunday mornings we always go and pick up the paper and check the lottery numbers from the night before,” the woman said.
“We couldn’t believe it when we saw our numbers printed in the paper. As you could imagine, we’re over-the-moon.”
