Wollongong: Elliot Mees refused bail over child abuse and bestiality material charges

A man who stands accused of hoarding child abuse and bestiality material has been refused bail by a court in the state’s south.
Elliot Mees, 30, appeared before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday charged with two counts of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material, two counts of using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, two counts of possessing child abuse data, possessing bestiality material and disseminating bestiality material.
In a statement from police, detectives from Strike Force Trawler raided a Wollongong address on Monday morning.
During the search, it is alleged police uncovered and seized electronic devices relevant to their investigations.
All seized items will be forensically examined.
Mees, who was the occupant at the address, was arrested by police and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
It is alleged by police Mees had contacted a Queensland mother across two social media platforms in an attempt to solicit her teenage daughter for sexual activity.
No pleas have been entered and Mees was refused bail during his appearance at court on Monday.
He will return to the same court on July 9.
