Oskar Enasio has been told stories of how he and his cousins started playing rugby together - in matching nappies - at the age of two and a half.

Now, the 17-year-old young gun from the Gordon rugby club is about to captain the U18 Gen Blue NSW Juniors side against a Schools XV lead by Manly’s Dally Bird on Sunday.

Then it’s back to training with the Wests Tigers SG Ball side for the third season for the versatile football talent who has also shown talent as a boxer and is planning his first amateur fight in the new year.

“I just took to football from the start,’’ said Enasio, who has live on the northern beaches and played in Manly’s Harold Matthews team.

The young footballer, who finished at Asquith Boys last month, said he started playing both rugby and league when around 10 and now loves both.

But he knows he will soon have to make a decision as to which one he will push for as a career.

“I still haven’t decided. I’ll have to make a decision soon,’’ he said.

“I’ve been playing fullback in league and then centre in union and enjoyed it all.

“I am hoping to really give footy a big crack. The goal is to get a contract with league or union.’’

Enasio, who lives at Hornsby with his family, said he could not have been more proud when named to captain his side in Sunday’s match.

“It was unexpected,’’ he said. “It means a lot to be named captain. It’s quite a privilege.

“I’d like to lead the boys by my actions.’’

While many of his teammates have played a reduced amount of rugby this season due to COVID-19 restrictions, Enasio said he has been lucky in what he’s been able to play,

“I played second colts (with Gordon) and we beat Randwick in the final which was great,’’ he said.

“Then I used to play league on a Sunday … south eastern seagulls (junior rugby league club at Matraville.

“And now training with the Tigers is back. I'm loving it.’’

Enasio was named to lead the Gen Blues junior team after a match between Sydney and Country at Camden Rugby Park last weekend.

Sunday’s game is on CluchTV due to COVID restrictions limiting spectators.
