They are only just in their teens but these young players are already being tipped to be future footy champions.

They are young guns who have grown up with a ball in their hands and a desire to play hard and tough.

Now some of the best U14 girls in NSW will get to strut their stuff on a big stage - the annual City v Country rugby fixture at Newcastle this Sunday.

City coach Ian Bond believes the U14s are a special group of players who will be making noise in the future in rugby XVs, Sevens and also the NRLW.

“They are special, so good,” Bond said. “These 13 year olds have grown up with a ball in their hand and they come with the fundamentals and skills like the boys now.

“A lot play both union and league, rep netball, oztag, and touch.

“They also listen and they have a great work ethic.

“These really are going to be the Super Rugby, NRLW and Wallaroos of the future. These girls just get it.

Country coach Will Campbell is as enthusiastic and impressed by his young charges.

“This is the best under 14s team there has been from Country,’’ Campbell said.

“I could have picked a team of 50 the quality of rugby has improved so much.’’

Campbell said Country were just beaten by City last year and his players have a point to prove in Sunday’s game.

Below are some of the U14s players to watch at the City v Country encounter at Newcastle – and in the future.

Scarlet Mahutariki, Penrith

A No. 10 she is a real talent. Has great game IQ and can get set plays going. Knows how to hide the ball when she throws a dummy. She also has a good kicking game.

Sienna Knight, Randwick.

Part of the backline for City and very unassuming. But she runs through the defence and has a real X factor on the field.

Bondi Werner, Sydney Uni

Fairly new to rugby but makes a big impact. Looks like a sprinter but can break through defence. Good tackler with a good rugby IQ who can steps through three or four players and get an offload.

Reggae Skinner, Penrith

Part of the forward pack. A hooker with a wicked sense of humour who is highly aggressive. Has the ability of being able to sniff out a try.

Jamaica Poilly, Uni

Has the makings of a future sevens player. A breaker of defenders despite being slight. A fullback who is safe as a house and a great kicker with a late pass.

Nariyah Ngaue, Randwick

Will be playing at No.8. Nariyah is a hard running player from the Randwick club and committed to lifting her team with her big runs.

Mele Manofeta, Manly

In the second row and also a talented netball player. Six foot tall and towers over her rivals and has a great flat pass.

Eve Messiter, Randwick

A flanker who plays like Wallabies star Fraser McReight. Excellent on the pilfer and never far from a try/ Always looking to steal the ball

Amber Rose Osasa, Hunter

This country prop Rose is an absolute leader on the field. She also has great ball skills and can work for the full hour.

Kaylani Fa’avae-Eli, Hunter

Kaylani is the Country No. 8 and an avid defender. She is also one of the best leaders in the team - and in U14s footy. Has the ability to score from anywhere on the field.
