No longer reserved for the British social set, high tea has emerged as the go-to event for celebrations and fundraisers as well as the catch-up of choice for friends and families, providing the perfect alternative to brunches or drinks.

The Hills is home to a wide range of high tea options, from the classics served on beautiful tableware in our restaurants to the warm pastries delivered with love at our local cafes and the modern twists pouring out of the kitchen of our hotels.

Novotel Sydney Norwest in Baulkham Hills offers three tiers of sweet and savoury treats with unlimited assorted teas and coffees, plus a glass of Australian sparkling wine or juice for $39 per person. Biviano’s Restaurant offers an elegant high tea of sandwiches, sweets and scones with an extensive range of loose leaf teas for $40 per person. For extra indulgence, try the high tea with a glass of Australian sparkling wine for $47 or a glass of French sparkling wine for $55. The Hills Lodge

The Hills Lodge’s authentic high tea features miniature cakes and tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, scones, sandwiches and pastries accompanied by loose leaf tea and coffee served in antique cups and saucers. Choose from a classic high tea with a sparkling wine piccolo for $49 per person, or an indulgence high tea with a Moet champagne piccolo for $69 per person. The Hills Lodge also offers a gluten free high tea. High tea is available in the Nobles Restaurant on Fridays from 12pm-4pm and Saturdays from 12pm-3pm. To book, call 9680 3800. Arthur St Cafe

Arthur St Cafe in Baulkham Hills offers a range of Life of Cha teas or the cafe’s signature coffee blend to accompany their often-changing high tea menu of delicious homemade goods. The Fiddler

The Fiddler’s high tea includes assorted savoury and sweet items plus a selection of tea and coffee for $40 per person, plus the option to add a glass of bubbles for $6. The Fiddler caters for a range of dietary requirements including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. The Fiddler runs high teas from Mondays-Sundays for a minimum of 10 adults, and seven days notice is required. Recently opened at Castle Towers, patisserie Passiontree Velvet offers a range of high tea options including one for the kids. Choose from the classic Devonshire cream Tea with English scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam for $13.50 per person or try the flagship The Duchess Full High Tea for $34.95 per person. For a high tea with a difference, try Bella Vista Hotel’s modern Bella Tea — a tapas-style afternoon tea for groups of eight or more. The menu starts with a selection of cold meats and cheeses with a choice of cocktail jugs or sparkling wine, followed by house made sliders and steamed buns, and finishes on a sweet note with scones, petit fours and Nutella spring rolls along with a pot of tea or an espresso coffee.
