A RECORD-BREAKING Paralympian had his efforts recognised with a morning tea in Castle Hill last week.
Jonathon Milne, who works at Abbey Archery in Castle Hill, became the first Australian to win a Paralympic archery medal in more than 30 years when he took home the bronze from Rio.
The Mulgoa resident was left paralysed from the chest down from a surfing accident at Avoca Beach in 2012.
Milne took up archery soon after his accident and has excelled at local, national and international events.
Milne, 30, was the first Australian to qualify for Paralympic archery since 2004 and the first Australian to win a medal in the sport since 1984.
Hills Shire Mayor Yvonne Keane, who attended the morning tea on October 21, congratulated Milne on his efforts in Rio.
“Jonathon should be extremely proud of everything he has achieved,” she said.
“The whole Hills Shire community has been behind him every step of the way – from the qualifying rounds through to the finals.
“His efforts in the 2016 Paralympics has been truly inspirational.
“I wish Jonathon every success in his future sporting career.”
