Kellyville: James Robert Oxley, 18, charged with speeding at Windsor Rd

Two P-platers allegedly sped more than 80km over the speed limit when they raced each other on one of Sydney’s busiest roads.

Two teenagers have been charged after allegedly street racing on Windsor Rd at Kellyville on Saturday, February 5 when they allegedly exceeded the speed limit by more than 80km/h.

James Robert Oxley, 18, and a 17-year-old boy allegedly drove 142km/h in a 60km/h zone that Saturday about 10pm when they raced each other.

Hills Traffic and Highway Patrol Command police allege the westbound Hyundai Tucson the 17-year-old was driving and Mr Oxley’s Volkswagen Golf were speeding about 10pm when cops were conducting stationary speed enforcement on the arterial road.

Police stopped the Hyundai on Wrights Rd, before the Volkswagen allegedly left the scene.

The Hyundai driver was charged with class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and street racing, organise, promote race between vehicles.

His licence was immediately suspended.

Shortly after, police attended a home on Shuttle Pde at Schofields, and spoke to Mr Oxley, who was charged with class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and street racing, organise, promote race between vehicles.

His licence was suspended and his registration plates were seized for three months.

Mr Oxley was not required to appear when his matter was mentioned at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday. It was adjourned to May 19.
