Crooked Tailor to launch alcohol free cocktails
Fancy a drink but trying to reduce your alcohol consumption — and sick of juice-filled mocktails? A Castle Hill bar may have the answer.
Fancy a drink but trying to reduce your alcohol consumption — and sick of juice-filled mocktails?
A Castle Hill bar may have the answer.
Crooked Tailor on Old Northern Rd will start serving alcohol-free cocktails in the coming weeks using a range of non-alcoholic spirits and liqueurs, which have recently arrived in Australia.
The Lyre’s range includes all the classics like American and Highland malts, vermouth, triple sec, a gin-like spirit, amaretto and coffee liqueur — which means virtually any popular cocktail can now be made alcohol-free, such as espresso martinis and gin and tonics.
Lyre's is made using essences and extracts from fruits, botanicals, spices, nuts and seeds.
Crooked Tailor co-owner Karl Schlothauer said the demand for lower or non-alcoholic drinks was rising.
“I think there’s just a generalised trend now that people are more aware of what goes into their body,” he said.
Schlothauer said he was “quite sceptical” of the range until he tried it.
“I’m an avid whisky fan and they’re actually really good,” he said.
Crooked Tailor has also started opening for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, and with the addition of the alcohol-free cocktails it means customers can visit for lunch and a drink and still be able to drive home.
