When Hills teacher Meg Wong decided to turn her love of baking into a fulltime career, she found a way to merge her two passions.
Schoolyard Cafe in Cherrybrook brings Mrs Wong’s teaching background into the hospitality realm, with a themed decor including a blackboard, black-and-white class photos, and menus on clipboards.
The venue, which opened on April 19, has wide spaces for navigating prams with a designated area to park them, and a simple menu made with high-quality ingredients.
The ingenious children’s options include a “6 Piece Picker” for little ones to munch on mix-and-matched items of their choice, and a “Lunch Tray” for older kids.
For adults, the menu is short and sweet but caters to a wide demographic with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices too.
Coffee drinkers will love the Mecca specialty roast and affogatos with the award-winning Cow & The Moon gelato – a perfect accompaniment to one of the ever-changing sweets from the display counter.
