Baulkham Hills could soon receive fresh infrastructure to support its booming population growth.
Development plans, valued at just under $2 million, have been lodged for the construction of a two-storey child care centre at 5 Rembrandt Drive, Baulkham Hills.
The proposed location is in a suburb marked by new high-density apartment complexes, such as The Orchards’ $1 billion proposal for residential ‘towers’ containing 1300 homes.
The proposed location is near the intersection of Windsor Rd and Rembrandt Dr — about 200m from Grove Square shopping mall and 1km from Jasper Road Public School.
According to the developer’s plans, the child care centre would be two-storeys high with a basement car park, containing 16 parking spaces.
The centre would have space for 52 children, aged between zero and five years old, with eight staff, including one part time cook.
There would also be four indoor play rooms, a sleeping room, a kitchen and two outdoor play areas.
The proposed hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm.
Planning documents note how the proposal would help cater for Baulkham Hills’ recent boom in population growth.
“(The child care centre would) provide for the … need of the community within a high-density residential environment,” the developer’s plans state.
“(It will) encourage high-density residential development … (and) foster a sense of community.”
This development application will be determined by The Hills Shire Council in the coming months.
