An “armed and dangerous” man is on the run following a spree of armed robberies and a carjacking across Sydney’s CBD and inner west.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were told the first incident took place at around 9.30pm on Monday night, when a 48-year-old man entered his parked Citroen C4 on Harris St, Ultimo.
A man, armed with a knife opened the drivers door and threatened the driver, before demanding him out of the vehicle and driving away south on Harris St.
Just an hour later, shortly after 10.30pm, police were told a 47-year-old man and a woman were inside a black Mercedes GLC outside a fast food restaurant on Concord Rd, North Strathfield when an unknown man approached the drivers window.
Police were told he threatened the driver and lunged at him with a knife through the window.
The driver and his female passenger were able to escape in the vehicle unharmed.
A short time later, the man held up two young men in Rhodes and demanded their wallets, which they handed over.

The spree continued down the road, when he confronted another man and woman in an Audi.
He dragged the male occupant from the car and stole money before leaving in the stolen Citroen which was parked nearby.
Superintendent David Johnson said the man was quite agitated and screamed at the drivers to get out of their cars.
Police are warning members of the public not to approach the man if they see him.
“Clearly the actions of this person is not of someone of rational mind and we would believe this person is dangerous,” Supt Johnson said.
The man is described as being a clean-shaven caucasian with a slim build and short hair, aged between 45 and 60, and wearing a blue collared shirt and blue-grey jeans.
No one was injured during any of the incidents.
The stolen vehicle has been described as a blue 2005 Citroen C4 hatchback with NSW registration 00 OZO.
