Development applications have been lodged for the latest major housing developments in the north of the Central Coast.
A 56 home proposal for the heart of Charmhaven and a 66 small-lot housing development at Wadalba bring to more than 350 the number of new home sites proposed for the north since March. The major proposal so far include:
■ 88 residential lot subdivision in Hakone Road at Warnervale.
■ 7 0 residential units in Nikko Road at Warnervale
■ 70 residential blocks in Warnervale Road at Hamlyn Terrace
■ 66 small lot houses Pacific Hwy, Wadalba
■ 56 homes at Stratford Avenue in Chamhaven.
WADALBA PLAN
The new Wadalba proposal has been lodged by Sydney based Thrum Architects — the same group that designed the proposed-but-never-built “Klumper” key site at 11-29 The Entrance Road. This was on one of the former Wyong Council’s designated key sites.
The Wadalba plan at 539 Pacific Hwy would create 66 new dwellings in two stages -31 lots in the first stage and 35 in the second.
Each lot would have a three or four bedroom house built on it. The land which is zoned for low density residential. Some roads will also need to be built as part of the subdivision.
Residents have until August 16 to make a submission on the proposal.
CHAMHAVEN PLAN
Meanwhile at nearby 7 Stratford Avenue, Charmhaven, the proposal is for a multi dwelling housing development, with 56 dwellings in eighteen blocks of two-storey townhouses.
The individual blocks will be a mix of between two and four dwellings. The plan includes some communal area with covered seating and barbecues.
The proposal by Thomas Paul Property Group is for land close to Lakehaven shopping centre.
Residents have until August 16 to comment on this proposal.
Wyong State Labor MP and Oppostion Central Coast spokesman David Harris said the major issue facing the rapidly developing north was roads and public transport.
“Warnervale railway station desperately needs an upgrade and major roads are not up to standard and struggle to carry the volume of new traffic,” Mr Harris said.
He said there had been significant improvements in health infrastructure in the last year including ongoing redevelopment of the hospital and the opening of new ambulance stations at Toukley and Hamlyn Terrace.
He said the opening of a new Woolworths at Hamlyn Terrance and the upgrading of Bunnings at Lakehaven were among a number of developments helping to drive new jobs in the area.
