BAMVINO has become a well known brand across the coast — synonymous with sensational pizza and quality wine.

Now, customers can take the goodness home, with the business opening Sliced by BamVino last week, a takeaway and eat-in venue in Green Point next to their bottle shop BamVino Cellars.

“We saw an opportunity in the marketplace for a takeaway,” co-owner Jan Rundle said. “People enjoy the style of food we have.”

BamVino in Erina Heights opened its doors in July 2014 and just two months later opened a deli next door, followed by two bottle shops — in Green Point and East Gosford.

It all started through the friendship of Mr Rundle and Grant Spokes and their families, who used to commute to Sydney and play football together.

“We noticed a gap in this area for good wholesome food; somewhere you can bring the family that didn’t just have deep fried food,” Mr Rundle said.

“I used my background in food and wine and Grant has a background in accounting.”

He said the restaurant prides itself on “good food, good wine, quality service and a great atmosphere.”

“We have a passion for food and being able to access it on the Coast,” he said.

BamVino is well known for its mouth-watering pizzas, from the Mango Chicken to the Trio of Truffle, with truffle salami and truffle pecorino. Another must try is the Salmon Pizza and the Lamb Shoulder with Thyme pizza.

But many can’t go past the tapas style share plates, featuring the dangerously addictive chorizo and cheese tortilla bites and the tasty tuna tostadas with a chipotle sauce.

When it comes to sweets, Chef Alex Saraceni’s churros are just divine with a gorgeous, finger-licking Kahlua caramel dipping sauce.

Mr Rundle said BamVino’s philosophy was “quality comes first”.

“We don’t buy anything pre-packaged or pre cooked,” he said.
