Or enjoying a Thai meal, followed by one of the most unique and mouth-watering desserts ever to grace a Thai menu. You do can do both at Terrigal’s Thaiger Temple.

Owners Yoddy and Amelia Samingkaw opened the restaurant more than four years ago, with Mr Samingkaw and his family running Thai restaurants for the past 25 years including Terrigal Thai.

“At the time we opened, there wasn’t much at this end of Terrigal so we took the leap,” Mrs Samingkaw said.

“We wanted to create something that caught the eye.”

The restaurant has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as the place to go for authentic Thai food, as well as its five signature Thai style cocktails.

Two of the popular Thai cocktails include the Bangkok Mule which has an intensely refreshing kick of lime, and the Same Same with hits of cranberry and rosewater. There’s also the cheekily named Thaiger-Tini.

The menu has everything from “Curries fit for a king” to “Wisdom from the wok”, “Seafood for the Soul” and “Nourishing Noodles”, along with entree bites and specialties.

The Masaman Lamb Shanks just fall apart in the addictively rich sauce, while the Pork Belly Chilli Basil is to die for, with a warm kick complimenting the pork.

The ever popular Pad Thai is filled with fresh ingredients, with light and fluffy eggs and tender chicken.

When looking at the dessert menu, one grabbed my eye immediately — Tempura Mars Bars.

Mrs Samingkaw said she and her husband tasted something similar travelling overseas and decided to create their own version.

“We tried every chocolate bar, but Mars works perfectly,” she said.

The restaurant also has a gluten free and vegan menu, banquet style menu and the space to host large functions and group bookings. However if it’s cocktails you’re after, jugs are also available to share.
