Pedophile pleads guilty to abusing and indecently assaulting a number of children

A pedophile who committed vile acts of sexual abuse against a number of children has pleaded guilty to the horrific crimes. Here’s what we know.

A man has pleaded guilty to a number of historical sexual offences against children.

A pedophile who committed vile acts of historical sexual abuse against a number of children has pleaded guilty to his horrific crimes.

The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty in the Gosford Local Court to a number of charges including persistent sexual abuse of a child, indecent assault and possession of child abuse material.

Police facts state he maintained an unlawful sexual relationship with a child for six years during which he engaged in a number of offences.

On a number of occasions the offender sexually touched the victim, and in one case made the victim watch child abuse material deemed too disturbing to describe.

In another case, the man committed unlawful sexual acts on another child over a period of two years, and would fondle the child’s genitalia more than 20 times.

The man was arrested last year in relation to his crimes.

The man also showed child abuse material to the victim on one occasion.

Court documents state the offender purchased the second victim expensive items including games, online subscriptions and would give him hundreds of dollars.

The man would inappropriately touch children when they were watching TV.

A third victim was also indecently assaulted on one occasion, and the next morning after it occurred, the victim said he was uncomfortable and wanted the offender to stop.

In another incident, a fourth victim was watching TV when the man put his arm around the child’s waist and moved his hand down her pants and underwear.

After this incident occurred, the victim got up, and went to the bathroom. When the victim returned the offender asked “why aren’t you coming to sit on the lounge” to which the victim replied, “I’m just busy” before returning to her room.

The man also indecently touched his fifth victim on a number of occasions, with court documents stating he inappropriately touched the victim on the bottom and put his hand underneath her top and touched her breast while she was watching TV.

The man pleaded guilty to persistent sexual abuse of a child.

On another occasion he touched her breasts, while touching her genitalia and later on that same day also kissed her bottom.

The sixth victim was also inappropriately touched on the bottom, and on another occasion, while watching TV, the man indecently assaulted the victim.

The man was arrested last year where a search warranted was executed at his home.

Police found a hard drive and mobile device and made admissions to having child abuse material on the hard drive.

He told police he had all sorts of material, telling detectives it was downloaded from the web and “ages would be just about everything, and it’s very much from simple images, clothed to hardcore pornography”.

In relation to the child abuse material, he said its “a problem that I’ve got” and although it abated for some time it “reared its ugly head... again.”

The man had a number of child abuse material on his hard drive.

The offender said his relapse into child pornography “may have something to do with the fact that I thought that, you know, the hours of freedom maybe slowly dwindling away anyway, that I may as well.”

In relation to the allegations made by the victims, the offender said “if I’ve done these things, and I, oh, I don’t want to be in a position to ever do them again.”

He also said that he does not foresee himself being anywhere other than a cell for the rest of his life and regardless of whether he can remember or not, he doesn’t think he should be around kids.

In relation to the allegations generally, the man told police that while he cannot remember “doing it” he would agree to it.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
