Police attempted to stop the truck about 8.40am while the man was driving it along the Western Motorway near Reservoir Rd, Blacktown.

He allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

Several attempts were made to stop the truck including deploying road spikes at the Northern Rd, near Carrington Rd, Oran Park, about 9.10am.

The pursuit was terminated, and the vehicle was monitored by PolAir travelling through several suburbs including the Northern Rd at Bringelly, Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Bankstown and Cumberland.

About 11.30am, the truck collided with a semi-trailer at Sturt St, Smithfield, before officers attached to the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) used several techniques to stop the truck.

When approached by officers while he was in the truck, the man allegedly resisted and attempted to assault the officers.

He was arrested and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being transported to Westmead Hospital for further treatment.

The man was later released and taken to Granville police station where he was charged and refused bail.

The matter will return to court on February 2, which will be Mr Attallah’s 34th birthday.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
