A western Sydney rapper charged with large-scale drug supply was allegedly busted with cash and watches worth almost half a million dollars, which police believe came from crime.
Crew Paleso’o, 27, of Plumpton, appeared before Mt Druitt Local Court on Monday charged with drug supply, commercial large-scale drug supply, and directing a criminal group.
Paleso’o, who performs under his stage name Kapulet, also faces multiple charges relating to cash and items police believe came from crime, including two Rolex watches worth $134,000.
Police alleged on Monday that Paleso’o also twice knowingly dealt with proceeds from crime amounting to more than $243,000, some of which was allegedly hidden in a Nike shoebox.
Paleso’o was arrested earlier this year after twin police raids at Marsden Park and Plumpton.
In December 2022, the elite Raptor Squad launched an investigation into alleged drug supply in Sydney’s west – targeting OMCGs and any associated criminal enterprises.
On January 6, Paleso’o and two co-accused – Keanan Vilianu Pao Carroll, 26, and Paleso’o Simon, 28 – were arrested and taken to Blacktown police station.
Paleso’o has previously claimed in court he had not been directly implicated in drug supply operations, further stating that $30,000 in cash found by police was his savings.
The new charges come as all three men – who have not entered any pleas – reappear before the courts.
Carroll, who resides in Marsden Park, was also hit with a fresh charge of prohibited drug supply.
Paleso’o, Simon, and Carrol are jointly alleged to have knowingly taken part in the supply of between 2-3kg of cocaine between May 2022 and January 2023.
Carrol and Paleso’o are separately alleged to have supplied another 813g of cocaine.
Carroll was also previously charged with taking part in large-scale commercial drug supply, knowingly dealing with criminal proceeds, and participating in a criminal group
He will reappear before the court alongside Paleso’o on May 1.
Simon, the third co-accused, is also alleged to have had more than $200,000 in cash which police believed was the proceeds of crime, as well as a number of cannabis plants.
He faces charges including taking part in large-scale drug supply, taking part in a criminal group, knowingly dealing with the proceeds from crime, and having a prohibited plant.
He will reappear before the same court on March 26.
