A bikie has escaped prison time after a wild brawl at a notorious Penrith pub landed almost a dozen men, including a high-ranking chapter president, in court.
Nathan Delforce, 30, of Oran Park, pleaded guilty at Penrith Local Court on Friday to riot, participation in a criminal group, and possessing a restricted substance – steroids, following the August 5 fight.
Described by police as “savage, reckless, and completely uncontrollable”, the three-minute brawl at the Wallacia Hotel ensnared current and former members of the Bandidos and Rebel OMCGs.
Shortly before 5pm, Bandidos OMCG members Trent Redmond and another man spotted a group of five Rebels OMCG bikies at the notorious bikie bar, before Delforce and more Bandidos members arrived.
Over half an hour, the two groups readied to fight and formed an ordered line inside the bar facing each other, court documents reveal. After some words, both groups left for the carpark where the fight began.
A number of smaller altercations broke out between members of the two gangs, including Bandidos OMCG southwest chapter president Ben Williamson who was sentenced for the affray on February 17.
Agreed police facts reveal the fight began after Williamson was stopped the month prior at a Campbelltown service station by a rival Rebels OMCG member who removed Williamson’s patches after an altercation.
Such an act is considered “disrespect of the highest level”, according to police facts.
The fight, which unfolded in view of hotel patrons, stopped shortly after it began and the groups disbanded.
Appearing at Penrith Local Court on Friday, Delforce’s lawyer said there was a need for parity among the five men charged in the brawl recently before the court, including three men sentenced earlier that month.
Bandidos members Haumono Uepi and Williamson were sentenced alongside former OMCG member Christopher Forbes, with Forbes and Williamson both receiving 12-month intensive corrections orders.
Delforce, who bears a face tattoo stating “no sacrifice”, received the same year-long sentence, which is a jail term served in the community, and like his co-offenders will be banned from contacting certain gang members or having OMCG paraphernalia.
Uepi, who served four months in custody on remand, received a 12-month community corrections order.
A fifth former Bandidos OMCG member, Trent Redmond, will reappear before the Penrith Local Court for sentencing on March 17 after his case was adjourned for a psychologist’s report.
Three Rebels OMCG members allegedly involved in the incident are currently still before the courts, and will reappear before Parramatta Local Court on March 17.
