A western Sydney man arrested after a police raid allegedly revealed a cache of prohibited weapons, drugs, and stolen goods inside a suburban home will fight the charges in court.

Wayne Raymond Salkald, 38, of Hebersham, pleaded not guilty at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday to a slew of weapons and drugs charges, including drug supply and possession.

Officers attached to the North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad at Penrith launched an investigation earlier this year into alleged drug supply in the Hebersham area.

Shortly before 9am on February 15, investigators executed a search warrant at Salkald’s property on Macartney Cres, where they allegedly seized a shortened .22 Marlin rifle and a prohibited shortened air rifle.

Investigators further allege that Salkald, who was arrested at the scene, was in the possession of a “Gas Gas” red trail bike, Tissot watch, two gold-banded watches, and a resealable bag of jewellery – all suspected stolen.

A prohibited butterfly knife and more than $15,000 in cash police believe came from crime was also seized.

Police also allege that Salkald was in possession of 21g of cocaine, and was supplying methylamphetamine.

Appearing at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday via videolink from John Morony Correctional Centre, Salkald was told the Director of Public Prosecutions would no longer be prosecuting the case. Instead, the matter would be returned to police.

Salkald was supported in court by his family.

Salkald also faces two counts each of possessing an unauthorised weapon and possessing a shortened firearm, possessing ammo and a prohibited weapon without a license, having items suspect stolen, and dealing with property proceeds of crime.

He will reappear before the same court on April 14.

He will remain behind bars on remand, with no application being made for bail.
