Three teenagers hospitalising after e-scooter crashes, Sunshine Coast

Three teenagers have suffered injuries hand were rushed to hospital following separate e-scooter crashes on the Sunshine Coast overnight.

Two stable teenagers were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with minor injuries following a vehicle and e-scooter crash on Links Drive and Noosa Springs Drive, at Noosa Heads, at 6pm.

Then another male teenager was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries after falling from an e-scooter on Tenake and Sunset Drive, Little Mountain, at 9.14pm, Wednesday evening.

The crashes come after a 14-year-old boy died in hospital following a collision between an e-scooter and a car on in Bundaberg.

Earlier, a woman and three young children were injured and traffic delayed after a rollover on the Bruce Hwy near Nambour, on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Bruce Hwy southbound near Kiels Mountain, south of Nambour, just after 11am on Wednesday after reports of a single vehicle rollover.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a woman in her 30s and three young children were involved in the crash.

He said the woman and two of the children were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable conditions, while the third child was taken to Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital.

He could not confirm the injuries suffered but said all patients were in stable conditions.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said it was not confirmed if any lanes of the Bruce Hwy were closed, but delays were expected.

TUESDAY

Emergency crews are attending to a beloved pet dog, Hairy the jack russell, after he became trapped in an horrific vehicle rollover on a Sunshine Coast road early this morning.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services remain at the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Pioneer Rd and Reserve St, Pomona.

A QFES spokeswoman said crews arrived at 5.45am.

“There was a single vehicle rollover. The driver was out of the vehicle but there was a dog stuck inside unable to escape,” she said.

A vet was called to the scene – however was not needed in the end.

Fire crews were ready to rescue the pooch and had been prepared to cut Hairy the Jack Russel out of the vehicle – however he found his own way out.

The beloved pet pushed his way out of the crashed car, crawling out to meet the driver and emergency services on scene.

Paramedics also attended the crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the driver was reportedly an adult male patient – however on scene paramedics had not confirmed this.

She said he was stable and would not be transferred to hospital.
