East Tamworth man Wade John Homewood, who was arrested and charged in November, allegedly urged people to kill ‘Jews, Muslims, non-white and Blacks’ in acts of violence and terror, a court has heard.

On November 23, NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team detectives arrested the 37-year old man after an investigation into online posts with alleged nationalist and racist violent extremist messaging.

Police allege the man was a regular user of social media platforms, where he urged force or violence against groups of people, which he identified by race, political viewpoints and occupation.

Police also allege he advocated violent acts against several Australian political leaders.

The NSW JCTT began a formal investigation into the man’s activities in September after investigators identified potential criminal offences in multiple posts on social media and communication channels.

Over two days in November, investigators searched a home at Tamworth and two semi-rural blocks in the area and seized several electronic devices and handwritten and printed material, which was to undergo further forensic analysis.

The man was arrested at his Ashburton St house and charged with one count of urge violence against groups that threatens order and good government and one count of advocate terrorist act or commission of terrorism offence.

Each offence carries a maximum penalty of five years in jail.

At Parramatta Local Court on Friday, court documents allege Mr Homewood engaged with his online subscribers using two Disqus profiles and BitChute — a video hosting service for far-right users that encourages hate speech. He allegedly also had a World Truth Video.

His display names were allegedly New World Ebola.

Court documents allege he urged followers to “use force or violence against groups, namely non-whites, Jews and Muslims (the targeted groups) intending that the force or violence would occur, and knowing the targeted groups were distinguished by race or religion”.

He was also charged with advocating a terrorist act, “namely killing non-white, Black, Jewish and Muslim persons, with the intention of intimidating the public or a section of the public”.

Mr Homewood was remanded in custody and the matter will return to the same court on February 4.
