A Sunshine Coast resident believes his car has been written off after a man rammed into his parked car only moments after damaging a local bus stop.

Concerned residents flooded onto Kundart St in Nambour after hearing a man in his 30s career his black ute into a parked car about 6.40am on Tuesday.

CCTV footage from a nearby home depicted the chaotic moments after the man crashed into the stationary vehicle, which pushed the vehicle forward several metres.

Footage depicts the man stumbling around the wrecked cars as smoked billowed from his car. Concerned neighbours were also seen leaving their homes to see the incident.

Police say they were called to the scene were they located the man in his 30s, who was treated by paramedics before he was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The owner of vehicle which the man smashed into, who preferred not to be identified, said he came home early on Tuesday morning from work and did not hear the bang.

He said the sound of a vehicle horn was what drew him outside, where he saw the man lying on the ground with paramedics nearby.

The vehicle owner told this publication he believed his car was “written off”, and would’ve preferred this incident not happen, especially just before Christmas.

He said his insurer would not be able to assist until he was able to give them the man’s address, which he was awaiting from police.

It’s understood the driver is from the local area.

Locals on Facebook noted this was the second time the same bus stop had been hit, with one witness claiming the driver “took off” immediately after the crash.
