Man to face Tweed Heads Local Court over alleged public place shooting in Murwillumbah

Police have revealed a man has been charged after bullets were fired into a home in a Tweed town.
The shooting of the property on Prospero St, South Murwillumbah occurred at 12.30am on Thursday.
Gunshots were reported in the area.
Emergency services including Tweed-Byron Police District officers attended and “established a number of shots had been discharged into a property”.
No injuries were reported.
Officers set up a crime scene and launched an investigation, police stated about 4pm.
A 35-year-old man was arrested at a home on Hall Dr, Murwillumbah, about 12pm on Thursday.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with possessing a shortened firearm without authority, going armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and firing a firearm at a dwelling-house with disregard for safety.
The man was also charged with using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and stalking/intimidating.
He was refused bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.
Investigations continue.
