A flood-affected hockey club in the Tweed has suffered another kick in the guts after vandals tore up their field in a car.

Hockey Tweed posted an aerial shot of the vandalised hockey field on Brisbane St, Murwillumbah on Facebook on Thursday night, asking for information.

The club has been contacted for comment.

“After two years of a pandemic, which lead to a decrease in registrations, then a flood which caused major damage to our facilities, we are attempting to rebuild with a very limited budget,” the club’s post reads.

“However, it appears there are some among us who still want to destroy the property of community clubs and facilities, no matter how tough they are doing.”

The club called for anyone in the community with information about cars seen on Barry Smith Fields, Brisbane St, Murwillumbah to reach out.

NSW Police stated: Tweed/Byron police have confirmed the incident has not been reported as of 1pm today (Friday).”

“An investigation cannot be undertaken until the incident is reported to police.”
