A man is in custody and will face Lismore Local Court after two police officers were allegedly injured as they attempted to arrest a man at Urbenville on Sunday night.
Officers attached to Richmond Police District were called to a home on Tooloom St, northwest of Casino, following reports of a domestic violence-related incident.
Police will allege in court a 39-year-old man was in breach of his bail conditions.
As he was arrested, the man allegedly assaulted two officers, one of whom was bitten on his hand.
The 27-year-old constable went to Lismore Base Hospital, where he is undergoing surgery.
A 24-year-old male constable sustained scratches to his hands, but did not require hospitalisation.
The man was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and wound police officer executing duty reckless as to actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Lismore court on Tuesday, September 19.
