A 15-year-old boy has been airlifted to a Gold Coast hospital with critical injuries after a horror crash in northern NSW on an alleged stolen motorcycle. Here’s the latest.

Authorities have said following a further update from the Gold Coast University Hospital as to the current condition of the young person, the matter was no longer deemed a critical incident.

A critical investigation has been declared after a teenager was injured in a single-vehicle crash in the state’s north on Thursday.
About 10.30pm officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol observed a motorcycle pass them on North Rous Road, Goonellabah.
Police did not pursue the rider and a short time later, they observed the motorcycle on its side at the intersection of Hamley Drive and Phillip Street, Goonellabah, without a rider.
A teenage boy approached police requesting urgent medical attention.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and treated the 15-year-old boy with suspected chest injuries before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
Soon after the teen was stabilised and flown to Gold Coast University hospital in a critical condition.
Inquiries revealed the motorcycle had allegedly been stolen from Lismore on Sunday June 10, 2024.
A critical incident team from Tweed/Byron Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
