Man dead after car crashed into tree on Fogwells Rd at Yorklea, near Casino in northern NSW
Police are investigating the tragic death of a driver in northern NSW early this morning as the state’s road toll continues to soar. Here’s what we know.

A man who was trapped in his vehicle after it left the road and crashed into a tree has tragically lost his life.
Emergency services were called to Fogwells Rd at Yorklea, some 10 kilometres south of Casino in northern NSW, about 1am on Thursday morning.
The driver, a 60-year-old man, was the sole occupant and he died at the scene.
Richmond Police District established a crime scene to investigate, but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Casino Volunteer Rescue attended and remained on hand for about five hours after the crash, providing lighting and otherwise assisting police.
The crash closed Fogwells Rd between Moran’s Rd and Tatham Ellangowan Rd for several hours.
Diversions were in place via Moran’s Rd, but it was reopened about 8.15am.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
More than 160 people have died on NSW roads so far this year, compared to 149 in the same time frame last year.
