A firefighter who police busted with 1.1kg of cocaine in a fire extinguisher will remain on bail in an ongoing commercial cocaine supply case.
Suffolk Park man Scott Edward Biber, 59, was mentioned in Lismore District Court on Monday, October 10, charged with supply a prohibited drug more than a large commercial quantity.
Now living in Umina Beach on the Central Coast, Biber pleaded guilty to supplying a prohibited drug, greater than the large commercial quantity, after police found over 1kg of cocaine stashed in a fire extinguisher on January 9, 2021.
The charge of supplying a large commercial quantity of an illegal drug carries a fine of up to $550,000 and/or life imprisonment.
Judge Jeffery McLennan continued and varied Biber’s conditional bail, lifting the curfew previously imposed on him in April 2020, when his bail was granted.
Biber’s bail was posted at $30,000, which will be forfeited if he breaches his bail.
Biber must live at his Umina Beach address and stay 100km away from the Byron Bay area, except when attending court.
He must not enter an international airport or leave NSW for any reason.
He is not to go near, or contact or try to go near or contact, any co-accused or any prosecution witness (except through a lawyer).
He is not to drink alcohol or take drugs unless those drugs are prescribed by a doctor.
The matter will be back in court for sentence in February next year.
