A full police brief of evidence has not yet been finalised in the case against a man charged over a shooting in Nimbin.

Codie Hartman Bradley, 20, is facing charges of discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and firing a firearm in or near a public place.

Police will allege officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to his leg in Thorburn Street, Nimbin, after reports of gunshots on July 23.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance in a stable condition.

Mr Bradley, who police allege was responsible for the shooting, was arrested in East Lismore on July 31.

Police will further allege a domestic violence incident was disclosed to them when they were investigating the Nimbin incident.

He has pleaded not guilty to a common assault charge in relation to that alleged incident.

Mr Bradley has been remanded in custody and appeared before Lismore Local Court by video link from Clarence Correctional Centre on Wednesday.
Police prosecutor Brett Gradisnik said briefs of evidence for the alleged shooting, and for a separate domestic violence matter, were not yet finalised.

He told the court the officer in charge of the case was compiling the items outstanding from the briefs.

Defence solicitor Hannah Donaldson said the domestic violence allegation, which her client had pleaded not guilty to, should be set down for a hearing.

That matter was scheduled for a hearing on February 17 next year.

Mr Bradley is due back before the court on November 24.
