Bruxner Highway crash just minutes into the New Year
A man managed to escape the wreckage after his car left the Bruxner Highway near Tabulam and smashed into a tree on New Year’s Day.

A middle-aged man managed to free himself from the wreckage after his car left the Bruxner Highway near Tabulam and smashed into a tree on New Year’s Day.
The Casino VRA Rescue squad was alerted to the crash at about 1am, with initial concern being that a person was trapped in the vehicle.
“When we got there we found a man in nearby bushland,” VRA deputy regions operations manager Paul Cowles said.
“VRA Rescue NSW crews then assisted paramedics with the conscious patient and extricated him from the roadside to the waiting ambulance.”
NSW Ambulance paramedics and the critical care team treated the man who was suffering chest and abdominal injuries.
The man - believed to be aged in his 50s - was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
