Man dies in car accident near Ballina
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an 81 year old man after he was hit by a car near Ballina.

A man has died on a stretch of road adjacent to the Pacific Highway near Cumbalum.
Emergency services were called around 5.30pm to Tamarind Drive, Cumbalum after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Paramedics located an 81 year old man and despite their best efforts to save him, he died at the scene.
Police took the driver, a 57 year old man who was uninjured, to Ballina Hospital for mandatory testing.
Richmond Police established a crime scene for specialist forensic police to process.
Investigations have also begun into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
