Richmond Police District officers were patrolling Centre St at Casino about 6.45pm on October 5, according to a NSW Police statement.

It is alleged officers “attempted to stop a Kia sedan” driven by Walker and he “failed to stop as directed”.

Police allege they had to chase down Walker, though the pursuit was “terminated due to safety reasons”.

The Kia was located on Churchill Crescent soon after.

Police accuse Walker of approaching officers “armed with a knife” before they were forced to deploy a taser and he was arrested.

Walker was taken to hospital for assessment under police guard. He was then taken to Lismore Police Station and charged.

Walker appeared before Lismore and Grafton local courts for mention before entering pleas of not guilty to all charges in the Casino court.

He did not apply for bail, but before Magistrate Jeff Linden formally denied bail and remanded Walker in custody.

He is due to return to Casino Local Court on November 21.
