Lismore High Year 12 adviser Glenn Jeffery has commended the Class of 2021 for their grit, determination and positive attitude.

“They are the only year group that have had two years of Covid related stuff to put up with,” he said.

“They had significant amounts of time where they had to learn in new ways from home and through lockdowns but they came through, and with a lot of skills that will be useful for them in the future.”

Elke Readman, who will be the Year 12 adviser in 2022, said the students picked up the online learning environment really quickly.

The cohort arrived at their formal at the Lismore Workers Club on Tuesday in a mix of muscle cars and vintage classics.

The ladies adorned themselves in reds, blues, and pinks while the men chose classic blacks and greys for their suits.

A feature of the formal was an impromptu dance to Tina Turner’s hit Nutbush City Limits.

“It wasn’t planned,” said Mr Jeffery.

“The kid’s just got up with their parents and did the dance together.”
