A 67-year-old woman kayaking on the Richmond River at Wiangaree slipped on loose ground and fractured her right angle - triggering a dramatic rescue by emergency services.

The injured woman was forced to crawl for 50 metres.

The incident happened at about 11am today (October 4).

Her husband called an ambulance, while the State Emergency Service and police also attended.

When help arrived, the woman was put on a litter (a stretcher to carry a person over challenging terrain) for a considerable distance to a road ambulance.

The woman was taken to Kyogle Hospital where she was assessed, before being transferred to Lismore Base for treatment.
