Caravan crashes off Bruxner Highway into Duck Creek at Uralba

A man and woman have been taken to hospital and highway traffic reduced to one lane after a ute and caravan crashed into a creek between Lismore and Ballina.

A man in his 50s has suffered a medical episode before his vehicle and caravan veered off the Bruxner Highway into a creek at Uralba.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, between Gap Road and the Pacific Highway, about 10am Tuesday.

The man and a woman, also in her 50s, were able to get out their vehicle, which had ended up in a shallow section of Duck Creek.

A ute had to be retrieved after veering off the Bruxner Highway and crashing into Duck Creek at Uralba.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed while tow truck drivers retrieved the vehicles.

The man and woman were taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
